During the Meet the Teacher Event, several of our DECA officers had the opportunity to set up a booth and showcase what our club is all about! They engaged with students, parents, and staff, explaining DECA’s mission, activities, and the benefits of being involved. This event not only allowed the officers to practice their leadership and communication skills but also helped spread awareness of the club across IUP.

Some of our members had the opportunity to go to Group Dynamics to the District XII Fall Leadership Day where they did activities such as rope courses and team building activities. These experiences helped them develop stronger communication and problem-solving skills while working together to overcome challenges. The event provided a great opportunity for personal growth and team bonding, allowing everyone to step outside their comfort zones and build connections with others.

During DECA Day at AT&T stadium our members went on a self guided tour around the stadium and then had a chance to network. This was a great opportunity for our students to gain valuable hands on experience with talking with business professionals that work behind the scene and students from other chapters.

The GCISD Mock DECA Competition brought together all of the DECA chapters in GCISD for a valuable practice roleplay event experience. It allowed members to practice problem-solving, think quickly under pressure, and present professionally. Beyond competition, it was a great opportunity to connect with others, get to know our team, and gain feedback for future competition. 

November 21st, 2024

iUniversity Prep DECA students were asked to collect and donate cans through November 21 with a variety of drop off locations. We had 335 total cans that equaled 257 lbs of food! With 42 members, each member donated approximately 8 cans! That feeds a total of 214 people in Texas!

November 1st - November 27th, 2024

iUniversity Prep DECA students were challenged to gather for 20 emails and donations, which went off with a great start with receiving 1/3 of our donation goal within 2 days of starting. In total we raised $4,656 - surpassing our original goal. These funds were used to provide financial aid for DECA students within our chapter, and support operations in our inaugural year.

November 13th - December 11th, 2024

The Texas District 12 CDC on January 15, 2025, was an exciting opportunity for iUP DECA members to challenge themselves and grow. From presenting in front of professional judges to thinking quickly in roleplay scenarios, the competition helped sharpen our business and leadership skills. It was also a great experience to connect with other DECA members and strengthen our team bond. We’re proud to celebrate the success of our chapter, with seven members earning a spot at the state competition!

For the February Advocacy Campaign, three of our officers, Julia, Moon, and Mali presented slides talking about how DECA is beneficial or future career success. Advocating how DECA has many unique opportunities like our leadership events.

During DECA Day With the Mavs, students went on a tour around the AAC, listened to a panel with guest speakers who work in the sport business industry, and watched the Mavericks vs. Hornets game! This was an unforgettable opportunity!

Before checking into our hotel on the first day of DECA State CDC, our team kicked off the trip with an exciting Main Event experience. We bonded over laser tag, bowling, and arcade games, building team spirit and getting hyped for the competition ahead. It was the perfect way to have fun, relax, and connect before diving into the intense events of the conference!

Eight of our members had the incredible opportunity to attend the Texas DECA State CDC, where we competed in different events, showcased our skills, and represented our chapter. Some of us participated in voting for the next Texas DECA officer team, while others focused on their competitions. Beyond the competition, we had an amazing time bonding with our classmates at the hotel and making unforgettable memories. A special shoutout to our president, Julia, for being recognized as a state finalist. We are so proud of her achievement!

To get the DECA Membership Campaign achievement, a chapter needs to meet the requirements for either the Achievement Level or Thrive Level in the Membership Campaign, which involves increasing membership or donating to the DECA Foundation.

To earn the Thrive Level, a chapter needs to meet all requirements in two of the DECA Month Chapter Campaigns (Promotional, Community Service, or Ethical Leadership) and they receive a pennant, plaque, flag, and two allocations to attend the Thrive Academy at ICDC.

ICDC is the ultimate DECA experience, where the best of the best come together to compete, lead, and make lifelong memories. This year, two iUP DECA members represented our chapter on the international stage: Julia earned her spot as a competitor, and Mali was selected for the Elevate Academy, a dynamic leadership program for chapter officers. From high-energy opening sessions and intense competitions to inspiring workshops and global networking, ICDC had something for everyone. And of course, they made the most of their time in Orlando!

April 26nd - April 29th, 2025

During DECA Day With the Texas Rangers, students were given an exclusive tour of Globe Life Field and the opportunity to hear from professionals within the Texas Rangers organization, gaining valuable insights into careers in sports management, marketing, and operations. The event wrapped up with an exciting matchup between the Texas Rangers and the Oakland A's!

Congratulations to Jaxson McBride for being awarded the $2,500 CJ Knipper Memorial Scholarship! This prestigious scholarship honors the memory of CJ Knipper and is awarded to students who exemplify strong character, leadership, school spirit, and a commitment to their community; qualities that Jaxson demonstrates every day. We’re so proud of his accomplishment and can’t wait to see all that he achieves in the future!

We wrapped up an amazing year with our iUP DECA End of the Year Party at Chicken N Pickle! Members enjoyed yummy desserts, exciting games of pickleball, and celebrated each other with fun paper plate superlatives. Superlative awards that were voted for were also given out, with certificates and medals. A special moment was dedicated to our seniors as they both received their DECA cords in recognition of their dedication. It was the perfect way to end the year!

DECA had an awesome presence at the iUP Owl Expo with a booth run by Julia, Mali, Afrah, Priso, and Devesh! It was a great opportunity to showcase what DECA is all about and connect with future members. During the event, we introduced our new officer team and recognized the amazing contributions of our outgoing officers. Julia, our president, gave a heartfelt pass the torch speech. Her leadership will truly be missed!
