Dr. Alison Kenner teaches STS at Drexel University, and her recent research has emphasized the connection between asthma and climate change, as well as energy vulnerability and access to resources in the mid-Atlantic.

Dr. Rebecca Kaplan teaches history at Oklahoma State University. She specializes in the history of animal disease and public health, with an ongoing project to understand brucellosis as a public health entity at the intersection of human management of environment and non-human animals.
Urban and rural spaces both represent collections of people with distinct relationships to their natural and built environments and become formations of nature and culture that impact the science produced within these spaces or as objects of study. We wish to address how science and technology are produced in or for urban and rural environments and to address the divide, tension or continuity between these spaces of scientific research and knowledge production.
