Snippet
The first country in the round-the-world journey for the #day4yoursay on the IUCN Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions, the Fiji session was well attended by IUCN State and NGO Members, IUCN Commission members, government ministries, and regional and partner organisations.
Participants welcomed the development of the standard, and feedback and discussions ranged from opportunities to incorporate traditional and cultural knowledge, including using the standard to develop simplified guidelines for engagement at local level to show how development can be nature friendly, to the challenges of balancing human centred and nature focused goals, to the concept of an IUCN Blue-Green List of Endangered Ecologically and Cultural Keystone Species to complement the IUCN Red List.
