My research interests include experimental and mathematical models to understand transport and persistence of contaminants in the environment and associated health effects. I am currently studying the capacity of soils to attenuate pollution, focusing on changes in antibiotic-resistance among soil bacteria as a result of irrigation with antibiotic-polluted water. In the long term, I am interested in understanding how natural ecosystems can be used for attenuation of pollution in a way that is affordable and safe for human health.
