Hi, I have itunes downloaded using windows vista and all my 4S backups are on the computer, now I have bought a 5S and can not access the updates because it says 5S is not compatible with the itunes version on Vista and it will only work with Windows 7 or higher which I do not have. What can I do to sync all my data that I have stored on my computer to update my new 5S. There must be a solution.

I had similar problems where itunes wasn't detecting my 1G ipod touch, however I just downloaded the latest version of itunes (itunes 12.10.3.1) just to see what happens and to my surprise, it detected my 1st generation ipod touch. I think Apple fixed the issue.

there is also a website called techspot that says it has an itunes download for windows 7 tested in virustotal. -apple-itunes-for-windows.html#download_scroll Note- apparently the title on the techspot article is misleading re version, eg see harry's post about versions of itunes and version of windows.

That worked perfectly thank you, the link takes you to the itunes site which explains how to uninstall various other programs IN A SET ORDER and then re-boot. Once done, you can install the older version and, as shown above delete the i-tunes library.tl file

My experience of itunes12 has been a nightmare.obgc.dll in application support part of itunes is causing itunes to crash everytime i check my purchase history.this happens in all versions of 12.doesnt happen in 11.4 so i may end up going back to that.
