Greetings students! Welcome to "It's a Mystery!" As you can tell by the title, here you will be exclusively working with the mystery genre. Here you will find the basic elements of this genre and examples of written works and you will be closely working with the genre through the close reading of texts and analysis of said texts.
This is a picture I took last year when visiting Universal Studios in Florida.
Hello everyone! My name is Angélica I. Ruiz Sánchez and I will be your teacher for this course. Before getting an insight into what you will find throughout the year I will tell you a little about myself.
I am 21 years old and from San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. Growing up my favorite subject has always been English, and I enjoy helping people learn I like teaching so it was quite fitting for me to end up pursuing this field. I see myself as someone who adjusts quite well to change and I connect with people, these are two things I consider to be my strong suit.
There are plenty of things I like; such as reading, writing, watching Formula One, and the NFL. My favorite literature genres are fantasy, fiction, mystery, horror, and contemporary romance. Harry Potter is one of my favorite movies. Other things I like are photography, movies, and movies.
Here is an autobiography video so that you can get to know me a little bit better.
The end goal for this unit is to ensure that the students understand the basic elements of the mystery genre.
Incentivize students to read works of mystery fiction, analyze said works, and take into account the elements used before writing their pieces.
Skill #1 INTRODUCTION TO THE ELEMENTS OF DETECTIVE FICTION
Skill #2 WHAT MAKES A WHODUNNIT?
Skill #3 STEPPING INTO AN AUTHOR'S ROLE
The three topics will have instructions on what will be done throughout the skill and how you will execute the tasks. Your time frame per unit is two weeks, the last one, however, is more time-consuming because you will be writing a short story, therefore you will have three weeks, this is only for skill three "Stepping Into an Author's Role".
