iThriv Scholars Program

The iTHRIV Scholars Program is a mentored, career development award over a two-year period. This competitive program prepares Scholars to excel in a transformed biomedical research environment in which digital data drives health care hypotheses, interventions, and health quality evaluation. The program contributes to the growth of team science culture with a strong emphasis on clinical translational science.

Our Scholar cohorts consist of faculty from the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech and Carilion Clinic. All Scholars come together for weekly virtual sessions for a variety of activities geared towards supporting young investigators’ research and career development goals. A few staples in these weekly sessions include: 

• “Bring Your Own” where Scholars workshop their scholarly work

• NIH Mock Study Section

• Writing Accountability Groups

• Mentoring Hour where the Scholars and their mentors come together for discussion, reflection, and growth

• “Ask Me Anything” with various guests

• A Proposal Development Series

• The Annual Scholar Symposium

In addition, the program provides experiences with various experts in domains such as clinical research, data science, team science, goal setting, and networking. Each program year is tailored to fit the needs of our diverse sets of cohorts.
