Students who paid a costume rental fee at the beginning of the year (all ballet classes) receive a rental costume for recital that will be returned at the end of the Friday recital. Please take good care of your costume while it's at home, and hang it up to prevent any wrinkles from forming. No rental costumes will be allowed to be worn home after the recital, so please bring a change of clothes with you to the June 13 show! There will be a charge for damaged or lost costumes.
Students who purchased a new costume this year (all other departments) get to keep their costume at the end of the show. Please store carefully and steam out any wrinkles that may have formed in shipping. Be cautious, as this costume is shipped from the states and may not be able to be replaced due to damage in time.
Yes! Our photographer Cory Harding will offer photos for purchase of every group and individual. If you want photos of a dance you didn't order through your Recital Package, you can buy them directly from Cory through his website at www.coryhardingphotography.com
Yes you may, during dress rehearsal and before or after the recital. Absolutely no photography or video may be taken during the recital as it is very distracting and dangerous for the dancers on the stage.
Yes. Purchasing the recital package is mandatory, as this is what pays for our videographer for the recital, as well as other recital costs. We understand you may wish to take your own videos at Dress Rehearsal, but you will still be provided with a full downloadable copy of the whole recital to share with all your friends and family.
The tanks tops are sized according to standard clothing sizes in child and adult styles. They run true to size but are cotton and may shrink with washing.
Please check in with your student's teachers for each class regarding this! You can also log into your parent portal and go to each individual class; Tights for each class are listed under 'Costumes' on the left hand navigation bar. If you still need further clarification, email us! dancewithus@invitationtodance.ca
Check out our Hair & Makeup page for a video tutorial! We also offer signups posted at the studio prior to recital where you can book a time with some of our older students to have your child's hair braided before each show. A fee of $15/child must be paid to your braider at the time of your appointment. You must bring your own hair supplies (brush, comb, matching hair color elastics, gel, hairspray, etc.).
Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink lipsticks can be purchased at London Drugs, Shoppers Drug Mart, or Amazon.ca.
We are looking for backstage volunteers to help with childcare. We realized we only have one show, but if there are older siblings who would rather help backstage, we will still give our volunteering families one free ticket to the show. Please email the office if you would like to help us out!
Dancers in Jazz/Acro, Ballet/Tap, Boy's Only Hip Hop, Pre Junior Acro, Ballet and Jazz will be released at intermission and may go home or watch the second half of the show for free.
All students in Junior Levels and up will be involved in the finale at the end of the recital and will be required to stay backstage for the entirety of the show. Students will need to wear their finale tank top, provided as part of your recital package, and black leggings/pants of their own.
For safety and security of our dancers, students will not be allowed to leave the backstage area until they are released to their parents at the end of the show.
Please email the studio at dancewithus@invitationtodance.ca and we'll be happy to assist you!
