My sail boat

and the geek stuff I've been working on...
She's a Dufour 40. Hull n. 32, 2003.
The fastest boat? No. The best built boat? Nope... Exactly right for what I need? YES!
What I wanted in the first place was to have fun playing with my favorite toys: boats & computers (I also scuba dive, but this is another story).
Here's my projects:
NavMonitor is an Android app. It reads a NMEA 0183 or SignalK stream over WiFi and present navigation information in a multi-page, configurable dashboard. Here's the privacy policy.
n2k_wind is a replacement for the usual Raymarine ITC-5. Why it's better? It supports continuous auto-calibration, it gives more tuning possibilities, it is roll-compensated, it comes with an Android app for tuning and calibration.
n2k_router_arduino is a small app that runs on a ESP32 and reads data from GPS and other sensors (like temperature, pressure and humidity) and push them out as NMEA 2000 pgns (yeah, I could buy one... but where's the fun?). Recently, I added the support for the standard Raymarinr/Airmar speed/temperature, which is cool for a couple of reasons. The first is that I have more tuning flexibility, and teh second is that I can simulate the STW (Speed Through Water) with the SOG high-precision GNSS feed, and decide (from the Android app I've built) to use the wheel sensor or the SOG. Very useful when you don't use the boat for a while and your transceiver is not plugged.
rust_nmea_router is the same stuff as NMEARouter, but written in Rust and MUCH cooler!
Work in progress:
An anchor monitor app that can read the SignalK/NMEA feed of the boat and has the right feature sailors need (designed by sailors!).
Older stuff I don't maintain any more
n2k_battery_monitor reads the Victron VE.Direct and push everything on NMEA 2000. There's a Victron gadget for that but it deprecated and they want you to use their Venus of Cerbo devices - but they are power hungry and I do not need all the features (that overlap my NMEARouter application).
NMEARouter is a Java application, it typically run on a Raspberry PI and reads NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000 or sensors (it supports a bunch of them: temperature, pressure, humidity and so on), save all on a database and calculates some analytics.
n2k_evo_autopilot_remote is yet one more ESP32 application and it's a remote for the Raymarine EVO series autopilot. It's still under development, but the part that I like more is that it support Bluetooth and (eventually) I will write an Android app to drive the autopilot.
