Welcome
One of the very few opportunities offered to us by the COVID19 pandemic during the last year has been the implementation of virtual meeting platforms. In this way, attending a conference, presenting scientific results, having extensive discussions and fruitful confrontations have become possible for researchers based everywhere in the globe.
The scope of this international workshop "Next frontier of international collaborations in science and technology" is to discuss the new scenarios whose have been opened for scientific research and didactic offer.
After the salutation by the President of Shibaura Institute of Technology, Prof. Masato Murakami, the workshop will be opened by Prof. Enrico Traversa, Scientific Counsellor of the Italian Embassy in Japan. Contributions from researchers of Dillard University (New Orleans, USA), University of Antioquia (Colombia), Nazarbayev University (Astana, Kazakhstan), Madurai University (Tamil Nadu, India), University of Genova (Italy), University of Salerno (Italy), University of Castillla-La Mancha (Spain) are scheduled. It is a great honor to have in this workshop the speeches of distinguished Presidents, Rectors, and Deans, giving their vision for the internationalization of the scientific community.
Contributions from the International Programs Initiatives Section, Innovative Global Program (IGP), and Global course of engineering and science (GEneS) are also scheduled to enlighten the contributions of Shibaura Institute of Technology to global education.
Overall, this workshop will involve 20 contributions from 7 countries, across 6 different time zones.
This event is co-organized by Shibaura Institute of Technology (Tokyo, Japan) and Dillard University (New Orleans, USA). It is endorsed by the Italian Embassy in Japan.
We hope that this workshop will reinvigorate the ongoing collaborations and provide a platform to open new ones.

Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT) was founded in 1927 by Shiro Arimoto. His motto "Nurturing engineers who learn from society and contribute to society" continues to inspire the educational philosophy of SIT.
SIT is the only private science and engineering university In Japan selected for the Top Global University Project sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology and receiving support from the ministry for 10 years from the 2014 academic year.
In 2019 Times Higher Education (THE) ranked SIT 4th among Japanese private universities for internationalization, 14th among engineering universities in Asia, and 44th in the whole Japan University Rankings.
At 2019, SIT counted about 9000 students (14.9% international) distributed in three campuses, about 300 professors (43% international) managing 265 research laboratories, and had stipulated bilateral agreements with 164 Universities worldwide.
SIT is proud to give use of internet band and software support to accommodate up to 300 virtual attendees.
