Marseille (07.06-10.06.2027)
We are pleased to announce that the second edition of the International Symposium on Volatile Interactions in Ecosystems (ISVIE) will take place in Marseille from the 7th to the 10th of June 2027.
Volatile research area focuses on the production and emission of Biogenic Volatile Organic Compounds (BVOCs) and their roles in chemical interactions between plants or between plants and other organisms, as well as their role in the functioning of ecosystems and agrosystems. Furthermore, recent findings have led to a better understanding of the resistance and resilience mechanisms that aquatic, marine, and terrestrial plants employ in a changing environment. Finally, once in the atmosphere and mixed with anthropogenic pollutants (e.g., nitrogen oxides), BVOCs undergo a series of physicochemical processes that lead to the formation of secondary pollutants, such as tropospheric ozone and secondary organic aerosols. These compounds have proven health impacts but also play a role in climate change, with atmospheric aerosols representing the greatest uncertainty in climate prediction.Â
The purpose of this conference is to bring together the international scientific community working on BVOCs. We welcome scientists working on BVOCs with a point of view on chemical ecology, vegetal ecophysiology or atmospheric chemistry in terrestrial, aquatic and marine environments. The planned sessions of the conference will focus on :
BVOC fluxes from terrestrial ecosystems in natural and urban environments
BVOC fluxes from marine and aquatic organisms and ecosystems
BVOCs as chemical cues in species interactions
Impact of BVOCs on atmospheric processes
