ReSET:

ReliabiliTy of Software-Driven

Next-Generation NETworks

Message from the Chairs:

Scientific program chair coordinator: Benedetta Picano

October 9, 2023, Meyer Health Campus Firenze, Room 3.

Session Chair: Prof. Tommaso Pecorella

It is our pleasure to hold the workshop in Reliability of Software-Driven Next-Generation NETworks (ReSET) of the 34th IEEE International Symposium on Software Reliability Engineering.

The ReSET workshop deals with new generation networks that are increasingly becoming complex software-driven systems able to provide autonomic reconfiguration of communications, self-testing, and deployment of network functions, offering ubiquitous coverage in a heterogeneous technological space while maintaining specified levels of Quality of Service in a predictable and seamless manner.

Reliability of next-generation networked systems is a broad and multifaceted concept, having different expressions and spanning multiple areas of knowledge, such as software reliability, modeling, design of robust communication protocols, algorithms to achieve desirable performance subject to resource constraints, etc.

Emerging software-driven networks can improve system reconfigurability and service-tailored support, aiming to guarantee stable service availability and meet the agreed-upon level of operational performance, despite the inherent possibility of failures in underlying software/hardware network components. Due to the everincreasing

prevalence of software and programmable devices in next-generation networks, software quality (software reliability, software testing, software maintenance, etc.) is becoming crucial in designing and managing reliable future networked systems.

The ReSET workshop aims to foster knowledge integration among software reliability, modeling, and network science domains. It encourages cross-fertilization of ideas while consolidating collaboration between researchers and industry practitioners in relevant fields.

The ReSET workshop is partially supported by the European Union under the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) of NextGenerationEU, partnership on“Telecommunications of the Future” (PE0000001 - program“RESTART”).

We hereby thank all speakers who accepted to take part in the ReSET workshop, giving support to the conference.

We would like to thank all people involved into organizing the ReSET and standing committees for their help, to make ReSET a success.

We hope that the participants of ReSET will enjoy the conference.
