Undergraduate students: We are always looking for motivated students who are interested in neuroscience and want to gain lab research experience. Please send me an email with a one paragraph of what motivates you to join our lab and your career goals.
For a fulfilling research experience, students are expected to invest 10 hours/week to become fully proficient in lab techniques and gain the knowledge necessary to be productive members.
Recruits are initially accepted on a probationary basis for one semester during which they are expected to finish university mandated animal handling (IACUC training) and chemical hygiene training (EH&S and BSL2 training), learn animal husbandry, and become versed with various experimental approaches typically utilized in the lab.
Recruits will join ongoing projects and be supervised by Dr. Issa and graduate students.
Students are required to attend regular lab meetings and functions.
With prior arrangements, UG lab members can also take research credit hours that fulfill their degree requirements by registering for (BIOL 3540, 3550).
Letters of recommendations are written only for UG lab members who perform well in the lab, are productive and have been members for a minimum of one year.
Postdocs: Currently, we don't have a funded postdoc position. However, if you are interested in joining the lab, then please send me your CV along with a research statement. I will be happy to work with you to draft an NIH F32 grant proposal to facilitate your recruitment and research funding.
