About me
My name is Kel Smith and I have been at NKU for five years, as both a student and as a staff member. I graduated from NKU in 2023 with my Bachelor's degree in English, and I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Public Administration.
Since 2020 I have known I wanted to be an academic advisor, and have worked towards that goal with student employment experiences in Career Services, an advising internship within the English department, and professional staff employment as an administrative assistant in the All Card office. My motivation throughout each of these experiences has always stayed the same; to equip students with the appropriate guidance, motivation, and resources that will help them have a fulfilling and rewarding college experience.
Outside of work and school, I generally love to learn about the world, which motivates most of my hobbies. My second academic love after writing is linguistics, and I am conversational in Spanish and recently started to learn Portuguese. I also am a huge soccer fan (especially FC Barcelona and Columbus Crew), and spend most of my free time either talking about it or writing about it as a hobby sports journalist. And if I'm not doing any of those things, you may also find me cooking, listening to music, or playing Minecraft with my friends.
