Hi, I'm Kelly, an Academic Advisor in the Informatics Student Success and Advising Center. I work with students in the College of Informatics at NKU to encourage academic success.
Before coming to NKU, I graduated from William Smith College in Geneva, NY with my BA in English. After working as a tutor and a substitute teacher, I moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to pursue my Ph.D. in Literary and Cultural Studies. My academic research examined literary representations of space and place in the American West. While working on my Ph.D., I taught undergraduate courses in intermediate writing, contemporary literature, and global and transnational literature. I also worked at a local high school advising students on their transition to college. I finished my Ph.D. in March of 2023 and started working at NKU in April of 2023. I keep up with my love of literature by reading widely and writing short fiction and creative non-fiction.
In addition to my experience with literary and cultural studies, I hold certificates in Project Management and User Experience Research and Design.
I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, and I have also lived in New York, Utah, and Bath, England. I moved to Cincinnati in 2023 with my husband, Kevin.
After work, you can find me at the aerial yoga studio teaching classes and learning new tricks, or in my backyard spending time with my six chickens. I also enjoy cooking, visiting local coffee shops, and hiking or biking on Cincinnati's trails.
