The topics that might be addressed in submissions to ISPJ are varied and numerous, because IS themselves include many applications deployed in a wide variety of organisations, both public and private as well as society in general.
A list of possible topic areas is indicated below, but submissions are not limited to this list.
AI (including Generative AI and as yet unnamed variants): What are the most cost-effective uses of AI? What are the pitfalls of AI for non-corporate stakeholders? How can different stakeholders work together to enable an application of AI that supports multiple interests?
Blockchain Governance: What is the practitioner’s role in the governance of blockchain enabled cooperation? What perspectives need to be considered to ensure that blockchain governance functions in the interests of all affected stakeholders?
Business Process Management Methods: How can organisations systematically improve their business processes applying AI?
Cybersecurity: How can employees be persuaded to be vigilant about cyber security? How can individual people take steps to protect themselves from cybersecurity and data privacy threats?
Cyborgisation: As software-based artefacts migrate into the human body, for functions as varied as heart-management, dose-management, knee-stability, identification and identity authentication, what issues do IS designers need to address?
Data Analytics: Should data analytics services be centralised or distributed? How do data analytics damage the interests of non-corporate stakeholders, such as consumers, citizens and third parties? How can organizations recognize and manage the risks involved in data analytics?
Designing Digital Agents: How can we design a digital agent to enhance, e.g., travel inspiration? How can a digital agent be designed in such a way that it is certifiedly abuse-free by the developer of the agent?
Digital Business Platforms: What features of a platform make it addictive to users? How can users avoid being trapped?
Digital Capability in Manufacturing: What is the fastest path to accumulating digital skills in manufacturing settings?
Digital Government: Which public services do citizens want the most? How can the digitalisation of public services be incorporated within a strategic vision for digital government? How does the digitalisation of government negatively affect citizens and how can they act to protect their interests? How can a public administration engage citizens by generating/improving digital services, supporting access to people with disabilities, minorities etc.? Should we, and how can we, provide members of the public with countervailing power against government abuse of personal data?
Digital Service Innovation in Healthcare: How can hospitals innovate their services digitally to advance competition while providing high-level, non-discriminatory healthcare delivery services?
Digital Transformation: Should we and how can we assist in speeding up digital transformation, particularly where it is highly disruptive? What are the roles of the different key stakeholders in digital transformation and how can they be integrated? What is the experience of employees with digital transformation initiatives? What are the challenges associated with digital transformation?
Digital Twins: How can digital twins create value for stakeholders? What are the pitfalls associated with digital twins and how can they be avoided?
Ethics and Emerging Technologies: How should organisations and government entities ensure that technology is used ethically, for instance considering privacy and discrimination issues?
Fintech: How are traditional models for delivering financial services being restructured by technological innovations and how are these innovations reshaping financial markets and related products, practices and risks?
Gender and Politics: How do digital technologies influence gendered participation and representation in political discourse and institutions?
Generative AI in the Public Sector: How can public administrations systematically generate and evaluate use cases for generative AI?
Low-code/No-code Implementation: What are the pitfalls in the use of low-code/no-code tools and how can they be avoided? How can employees engage in low-code or no-code work as a form of organisational citizenship behaviour?
Robotic Process Automation: What are the most cost-effective uses of robotic process automation? How can the negative effects of robotic process automation in terms of employee replacement be mitigated?
Social and Workplace Inclusion: How do digital technologies shape experiences of social and workplace inclusion for diverse groups?
Technology and Regulation: How are organisations and industries responding to new policies regulations? How are emerging technologies challenging established policies and supervisory practices?
