Security Architecture

IsoVault was designed from the ground up with security as its foundation. The application uses a zero-knowledge architecture and modern encryption standards to ensure that your credentials remain protected at all times.

Zero-Knowledge Design

IsoVault never stores your Master Password.

Your password is used only to derive a cryptographic key that unlocks your encrypted vault. Without the correct Master Password, the vault remains cryptographically inaccessible.

Key Derivation

IsoVault derives cryptographic keys using PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 with 250,000+ iterations and a unique salt.

This process makes brute-force attacks significantly more difficult by increasing computational cost.

Encryption Standard

All stored credentials are encrypted using AES-256-GCM.

This encryption mode provides both: confidentiality (data cannot be read) and integrity.

Local-First Architecture

IsoVault does not use cloud synchronization or remote servers.

All encrypted data remains stored locally on your device.

Memory Security

Decrypted credentials exist only temporarily in memory while the vault is unlocked.

When the session ends or the application locks, encryption keys are removed from memory.
