ISMINI BECK

Composer / Musician / Educator

I am a music Composer and Educator currently living in Athens - Greece. I studied Music Composition (Integrated Master degree) at the Ionian University - department of Music Studies with professors Dimitra Trypani and Vassilios Kitsos. I have also studied classical piano and singing.

My interest in composition has to do with the special use of the voice, the speech and the extended techniques the instruments can produce.

My works have interdisciplinary character by the use of literary texts, Poems, Traditional Fairytales and Myths from all over the Word, Pictures, Videos etc.

I have composed works for symphony orchestra, chamber music, voices, solo instruments and I have collaborated with various ensembles and musicians in Greece.

I have been a member of various voice ensembles and have done concerts (as a composer and as a performer) in well known places such as Athens Concert Hall (2016), Greek National Opera (2021), Thessaloniki Concert Hall (2021) etc.

In December of 2021 my work was distinguished with a first prize at the composition Competition in memory of the Greek Revolution of 1821, from the Greek Composers Union and the National Opera of Greece.

My composition  "How Did A Raven End Up in the Belly of the Whale?" was performed from the National Opera of Greece conducted by the composer Dimitra Trypani.

My work was distinguished between others and was performed by the Thessaloniki state Symphonic Orchestra in the project New Sounds Week. My last work "Where are you going?” was a collaboration with  Onassis stegi project, titled “Music Connects the Onassis Stegi and the Panteion University, Vol. 8” a tribute to the composer Maurice Ohana.

I'm currently working as a freelancer composer and music educator in conservators
