Privacy Policy for ZakatTracker

1. Overview

ZakatTracker is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your financial data is personal and sensitive, and we treat it that way. This policy explains what data we collect, what we do not collect, and how your information is handled.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Data stored on your device only

The following data is entered by you and stored exclusively on your device in an AES-256 encrypted database. It is never transmitted to our servers or any third party:

- Asset values (gold, silver, cash, investments, property, business assets)

- Liability values (loans, tax payable, other liabilities)

- Zakat calculation results

- Payment records and notes

- Profile names and settings

- Hawl start dates and reminder preferences

- Currency and Nisab preferences

2.2 Data we collect for app functionality

**Anonymous Firebase identifier**

When you use the promo code feature, the app generates an anonymous identifier using Firebase Anonymous Authentication. This identifier:

- Is randomly generated and not linked to your name, email, or any personal information

- Is used solely to validate promo code redemption and prevent duplicate use

- Is stored locally on your device and in Firebase

- Is lost if you uninstall the app (anonymous Auth limitation)

**Promo code redemption records**

If you redeem a promo code, we store in Firebase:

- Your anonymous identifier

- The code redeemed

- The date of redemption

This is used solely to grant and verify your premium access.

2.3 Data fetched from third-party APIs

To provide live gold, silver, and currency rates, the app makes network requests to:

- **gold-api.com** — live gold and silver spot prices

- **frankfurter.app** — live currency exchange rates

- **aladhan.com** — Hijri calendar data

These requests do not include any of your personal or financial data. Only your IP address is visible to these services as part of normal internet communication, which we have no control over.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

We explicitly do not collect:

- Your name, email address, or phone number

- Your location

- Your financial data (assets, liabilities, Zakat amounts)

- Device identifiers (IMEI, advertising ID)

- Usage analytics or crash reports

- Behavioural tracking data

There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party tracking in ZakatTracker.

4. Encrypted Backup (Optional)

If you choose to use the encrypted backup feature, your data is encrypted on your device using AES-256-GCM. The encryption key is derived from a password you set using PBKDF2. We cannot access your backup — only you can decrypt it with your password.

5. Premium Purchase

Premium access via Google Play is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Google's privacy policy applies to the purchase transaction: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

If you redeem a promo code, see Section 2.2.

6. Children's Privacy

ZakatTracker is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

7. Data Security

All financial data entered into ZakatTracker is stored in an encrypted SQLite database (SQLCipher, AES-256) on your device. The app enforces HTTPS-only network communication. We do not store your financial data on any server.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

All your data is stored on your device. You can delete all data at any time by uninstalling the app on through an option provided in the app. If you used encrypted backup, you can delete the backup file stored locally on your mobile at any time.

The anonymous Firebase identifier and promo code redemption record (if applicable) are stored in Firebase. To request deletion of this data, contact us at the email below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

10. Consent

By using ZakatTracker, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please discontinue use of the App.
