WE ARE ONE! Israel & Germany - ISMANY

Welcome to our intercultural project!

We, Sophie and Yulley from Israel and Gianna, Lena and Lydia from Germany, have created a telecollaboration project for students from Israel and Germany.
Click HERE to get to know the group of ISMANY a little bit better!

We want to encourage students from different countries to foster their intercultural communicative competence through interacting and communicating with each other in a school setting. Learners do not only work on a specific task, they will also make new experiences with cultural similarities and differences, values, cross-cultural friendship and different lifestyles. Therefore, they will broaden their horizon in a unique way.

Studying together is always an adventure, especially in an international context.
We encourage you to join us
on this journey and solve these exciting and challenging tasks together.

Have a wonderful time 😊

About the intercultural project

WHO?
The main task 'Plan a trip' is created for intermediate level English students in grades 6 (Germany) and 7 (Israel). At least two teachers from each class should accompany the project.

WHAT?

Israeli and German students are encouraged to collaborate together in groups via Zoom. It is required that each group plans a trip in Germany or Israel and includes different places from the chosen country. They are in charge of creating a poster and presenting their solution in class. This main task challenges students to speak, read and write in English. Furthermore, this project includes media skills, e.g. using digital media programs like Canva. The intercultural context offers students to experience interaction and communication in a protected setting.

WHERE?

The students work together via Zoom during their English lessons.

WHEN?

The whole project will be spread over 11 weeks. Make sure that your schedule considers the different holidays. It is planned that the students meet once a week for 90 minutes.

WHY?

Particularly through an online intercultural project, students:

-Can improve their media skills through using digital tools like Canva
-Will be able to apply and enhance their language skills, especially their productive (speaking and writing) and receptive (reading) competences
-Learn new vocabulary through interaction
-Gain more knowledge about the respective home countries, their traditions, sights, food and other cultural aspects
-Become aware of the need for sensitivity when dealing with the concept of a culture.
-Improve their social skills in terms of working in a group and therefore negotiating solutions as well as coping with disagreements
-Are able to reflect on stereotypes, values as well as their personal language skills

Disclaimer for Mr. Schwab and Ms. Waldman:

The main task is created for intermediate-level English students in grades 6 (Germany) and 7 (Israel). Lessons 5-7 represent the main task. These are the lessons that are described in detail and are the required task.

We went a bit above and beyond, since most of us are in a teaching background at the moment. We felt it was best to know why the students have to do these tasks. Because of this we additionally created a schedule and incorporated these tasks into it. The additional tasks are not described in detail because they are not part of the required task. We still wanted to include them since it gives an overview and shows our thoughts on how these tasks could be carried out.
