The Islesboro Energy Team was established by a group of Islesboro residents in late fall of 2014 in collaboration with the Island Institute's island and coastal community programs, with a focus on energy and its environmental impacts. 2023 marks our ninth year.
The Islesboro Energy Conference was first held in September 2015, held annually for five years through 2019 until Covid arrived, and is now being revived again in 2023.
Our purpose is to carry out the goals, spirit and effect of our community mission, by identifying and meeting the energy-related needs of Islesboro's private and nonprofit sectors; by serving the sustainability, welfare, health, and education of Islesboro's residents; by fostering stewardship of its natural ecosystem; by supporting its social and economic vitality; and by establishing and maintaining meaningful relationships in our community and with communities and organizations beyond ourselves; and meet our mission's guidelines by maintaining and building relationships that will sustain, foster and strengthen existing programs and enable ongoing program growth.
