The Comox Valley is located on the east coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and includes the city of Courtenay, the town of Comox, the village of Cumberland, and the surrounding rural areas, including Denman and Hornby Islands and unincorporated settlements like Royston, Union Bay, Fanny Bay, Black Creek, and Merville. In 2024, the population of this area was 79,276.
It stretches from the mountains to the sea, encompassing a diverse landscape. This is a region known for its natural beauty and diverse communities. The area offers a mix of outdoor recreation, from beaches and forests to mountains and ski resorts, as well as cultural attractions, local cuisine, and a strong sense of community.
The Comox Valley is the traditional territory of the Puntledge, E’iksan and K’ómoks peoples. Today the three tribes are known as the K’ómoks First Nation. Comox, Courtenay and Cumberland are the three main communities that make up the Valley, stretching from mountains to sea.
