Kawthaung Island (Pulau Victoria)
Located at the southern tip of Myanmar, Kawthaung is one of the main gateways to the Mergui Archipelago. It's a busy town with local markets and is inhabited by a mix of Burmese, Thai, and Moken people.
Lampi Island
Part of Lampi Marine National Park, this island is known for its diverse wildlife and is inhabited by the Moken community. It's a base for eco-tourism activities, including nature walks and bird watching.
Kyun Phi Lar (Great Swinton Island)
One of the larger islands in the Mergui Archipelago, it is home to fishing communities and the Moken. It’s known for its white sandy beaches and coral reefs, making it a popular destination for diving.
Nyaung Wee Island
Inhabited primarily by Moken people, Nyaung Wee Island has beautiful beaches and a rich marine ecosystem. The local Moken community continues to live in traditional stilt houses.
Bo Cho Island
This island is home to one of the larger Moken settlements and has a mix of Burmese and Moken residents. The island is close to Lampi Island and has been a center for Moken culture.
Kawthoung Islands
Located near Kawthaung town, these smaller islands are inhabited by fishermen and are close to the Thai border.
Hlaing Gu Island
Inhabited by a small community, this island is known for its serene beaches and proximity to good snorkeling sites.
Thayawthadangyi Island
One of the largest islands in the Mergui Archipelago, it is home to several fishing communities and has a variety of wildlife and jungle trails. The island has been attracting eco-tourism for its unspoiled beauty.
Macleod Island
Although it has a resort, the island is also inhabited by a small local community, primarily involved in fishing. It's a remote island known for its natural beauty and diving spots.
Zadetkyi Island (Kawthung Island)
This large island is home to local fishing villages and features beautiful bays and natural surroundings. It’s one of the bigger islands in the archipelago.
Meik Kyun Island
Located in the southern part of the archipelago, Meik Kyun is inhabited by small fishing communities.
Kyun Tann Shey (Dunkin Island)
This island has a small community of fishermen and is known for its natural beauty, including coral reefs and marine life. It’s less developed but increasingly visited for eco-tourism.
Sular Island
A remote island with a local fishing community, known for its tranquility and clear waters, which are perfect for diving and snorkeling.
Hainggyi Island
Located in the Ayeyarwady Region near the delta, Hainggyi Island has a military base and a local population involved in fishing and trade. It is strategically significant due to its location near the sea routes.
Coco Islands
These islands are located in the northeastern Indian Ocean, near the Andaman Islands. There is a small population on Great Coco Island, though the area is largely under military control, making it less accessible to the public.
