Dr. Iacovos Ioannou, European University of Cyprus and CYENS Research Center
Dr Iacovos Ioannou is an Assistant Professor at European University Cyprus and a researcher with CYENS Centre of Excellence and the University of Cyprus’ Networks Research Laboratory, focusing on distributed AI for 5G/6G, D2D communications, wireless resource allocation, IoT, and security. He is an IEEE Senior Member, has served on TPCs for major venues (e.g., Globecom, ICC), authored the CRC Press book Distributed Artificial Intelligence for 5G/6G Communications, and has published in IEEE Systems Journal, Computer Networks, and Computer Communications. Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Head of the Department of Computer Science. Savvas A. Chatzichristofis pursued the Diploma and the Ph.D. degree (with honors) both from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. In past years, he has served as Adjunct Lecturer at Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), as well as a senior researcher at the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CE.R.T.H.), Information Technologies Institute (I.T.I.). Moreover, he has served as a Visiting Professor for teaching and research cooperation at Institute for Information Technology (ITEC) at Klagenfurt University in Austria.Furthermore, he has served as reviewer for scientific journals in the area of artificial intelligence, image processing and multimedia (e.g IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Transactions on Robotics etc.)Prof. Vasos Vassiliou, University of Cyprus and CYENS Research Center
Prof. Vassiliou is an Associate Professor and the co-Director of the Networks Research Laboratory at the Computer Science Department of the University of Cyprus. He is also the Group Leader of the Smart Networked Systems Research Group of the newly formed RISE Center of Excellence on interactive Media, Smart Systems and Emerging technologies, situated in Nicosia, Cyprus. He did undergraduate studies at the Higher Technical Institute (HND Electrical Engineering, 1993) and the University of South Florida (B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, 1997), and graduate studies with a partial CASP scholarship from the Cyprus Fulbright Commission at the Georgia Institute of Technology (M.Sc., 1999 and Ph.D., 2002 in Electrical and Computer Engineering). Dr. Vassiliou’s current research work is in the Next Generation Networks and Internet of Things domain, where he and his team work on Security, Mobility, Traffic Congestion and Flow-control, and Data Management issues. He is a member of IEEE and ACM, the Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Cyprus Chapter, part of the IBM Academic Initiative, and the Academic Advocate for the ISACA Cyprus Chapter.
