ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
This will be the first annual conference after the formal establishment of the Indian Society for the History of Economic Thought (ISHET). ISHET has been created to revive teaching and research in the field of history of economic thought (HET) in India.
KEYNOTE LECTURES
To mark the formal establishment of ISHET and to deliver the inaugural keynote lectures, we will be joined by two distinguished historians of economic thought: Rebeca Gomez Betancourt (University of Lyon) and Richard van den Berg (University of Kingston).
Betancourt was the first president of The Latin American Society for the History of Economic Thought (ALAHPE) and van den Berg is a former president of the European Society for the History of Economic Thought (ESHET). Betancourt’s current research is in the area of feminist economic thought and van den Berg works on 18th century French and British economic thought.
CALL FOR PAPERS
We welcome papers on all HET topics. An illustrative list is provided below.

Integrating HET in micro and macro, pluralism and HET, HET and critical pedagogy
5) Methods in HET
Archival strategies, internalist approach, externalist approach, textual analysis, historical reconstruction, oral history

YSI PANELS ON FEMINIST ECONOMIC THOUGHT
This year at ISHET 2024, YSI Gender and Economics Group will host two panels and one keynote lecture by Rebeca Gomez Betancourt (University of Lyon) under the common theme of feminist economic thought. Each panel will be 90 minutes long and have 3 presenters each. The duration of each presentation will be approx. 20 minutes with 10 minutes for discussion and Q&A. The presenters can also expect to get feedback from Rebeca on their proposed work. Rebeca is a Professor of Economics at the University of Lyon and was the first president of The Latin American Society for the History of Economic Thought (ALAHPE). She has also been associated with the International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE) and the European Society for the History of Economic Thought (ESHET). Her current research is in the area of feminist economic thought.
An illustrative list of themes for the panels is provided below:
The evolution of social reproduction theory
The History of Time Use Surveys and their contribution to measuring women’s work and welfare
The history of women’s movements in the Global South in relation to labour, leisure, family
The contribution of individual women and women economists (like Devaki Jain, Vina Mazumdar, Krishna Bharadwaj, and others) to economic thought and the evolution of policy discourse in India

REGISTRATION FEES
These are being collected to partially defray the costs of food, venue and conference collateral. In the event of a surplus, it will be transferred to ISHET's fund.
Assistant Professor & above: Rs. 3000
PhD candidates/working professionals: Rs. 2000
BA/MA students: Rs. 1000
ACCOMMODATION
Some rooms will be reserved for ISHET conference participants at the guest house located in the university. If you choose this option, we will reserve the room (single room @ Rs. 900; 2 people can stay in one room), and you have to pay the charges upon check-out. If the rooms get filled up or if you prefer staying outside, you may book a hotel located close to the University of Hyderabad (Google Map).
