BACKGROUND

I am from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, where my upbringing was enriched by a blend of North Indian and South Indian cultural influences. This diverse background has equipped me with a unique perspective on navigating various aspects of life.

I completed my high school education at Vishwa Bharati Public School, Noida where I studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as my majors and Psychology as an elective. Having been an academic excellence awardee for nine consecutive years, I passed my 10th and 12th CBSE boards with a sweet 98% and 97.6% respectively.
Enter a society steering me toward the predictable path of Medicine. While I probably had a soft spot for the intricacies of neurology, bidding farewell to my creative spirit wasn't on my agenda. So, I took a bold step and ventured into one of the world's best-kept secrets: Neuroscience. It's not quite psychology, not entirely medicine, but a tantalizing blend of both (among other stuff). After almost three years of studying and working in this field, here's my biggest and most favourite realization - this is one of the most exciting times to decipher the brain. Period

ACADEMIC JOURNEY

My academic journey has been quite the adventure. I’ve explored a diverse range of subjects, from clinical and molecular neuroscience to psychological theories and behavioral science. I’ve also dabbled in statistics, applied physics, environmental studies, and entrepreneurship—because why limit yourself to one area when you can enjoy a full intellectual buffet?

In terms of research, my experiences have been just as dynamic. During the summer of 2022, while others were enjoying their summer breaks, I was immersed in studying the relationship between REM sleep and traumatic experiences. Spoiler alert: it's a bidirectional tango.

Fast forward to the summer of 2023, I subsequently interned with a neuromarketing firm, studying visual stimuli's impact on cognition and choices, observing EEG use to visualize shifts in arousal and attitude in video advertisements. Because who wouldn't want to know what makes our brains click "like" on a product?

While conceptualizing a research idea with the CrossModal Perception Lab at the University of Oxford, I learned about multisensory design and its profound effects on our cognitive processes through rigorous readings (and documentations). This one led me to my current interest in Cognitive Neuroscience - intersection of multisensory perception and technology and their effects on memory and learning.

I will now be pursuing a Master of Science in Neuroscience and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.

EXTRACURRICULARS AND OUTREACH

While navigating my academic path, I took an exciting detour into the world of business through a deep-tech startup training fellowship. This experience, part of the Amity Talent Search and Training Program in 2022, was like launching into new and uncharted territory. Curious about how this adventure enhanced my interdisciplinary approach? Dive into the deets here.

My outreach efforts began with creating an educational newsletter, where I merged research and business insights into a dynamic mix. I continued to share my ideas on the GloNeuro portal and Medium, contributing to the expanding field of knowledge. I also had the chance to collaborate with the Women in Neuroscience Repository, working to promote gender equity in neuroscience careers.

Currently, I’m moderating influential panel discussions, aiming to share valuable neuroscience career insights with a global audience.

In between decoding the secrets of the brain, I moonlight as a trained classical singer specializing in Hindustani vocals, holding a Sangeet Prabhakar title from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. So, while my academic world orbits around neurons and synapses, my musical pursuits 🎶 is the secret sauce to infusing empathy and discipline into my brainy existence.
