Malaysia and Indonesia are rich with biodiversity especially for herbal medicine or plants. The downstream plant-based industry has grown significantly, particularly in relation to the production of essential oils from natural sources for cosmetic and medicinal uses. This expansion is the result of an increase in the usage of herbal goods as organic foods, functional foods, health supplements, natural personal care products, and cosmetics. The trustworthiness of herbal products is also higher than that of products created by synthetic chemicals. Additionally, they believe that natural plants are safer than products made of chemicals, which may eventually be detrimental and lead to health problems. Natural essential oils, herbs, and cosmetics have a booming market, but there have not been many initiatives to diversify natural sources, and their health benefits are generally neglected. The first-ever INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ESSENTIAL OILS, PLANTS, COSMETIC AND HEALTH (ISEPCoH) 2023 will be organised by the School of Health Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia and Universitas Andalas (UNAND), Indonesia, targeting participation from researchers, academics, health practitioners, nurses, laboratory staff, manufacturers, students, farmers, entrepreneurs, and others to gain knowledge and share their experiences. This conference aims to provide opportunities for researchers, entrepreneurs and manufacturers to work with the governmental organisations to develop high-quality, hygienic, safe, and effective products. The symposium and intellectual discussion will be conducted via physical and virtual interactions.
