Biography


Dr. Seok is an expert researcher in the field of advanced manufacturing and multi-functional materials, with a focus on micro/nano-meter realms. His areas of expertise include mathematical modeling and analysis for multi-physics phenomena, with a particular emphasis on applications in energy, bio-mimicry, and optical devices. He leads the microfabrication laboratory at A-State and has a proven track record of securing funding for his research projects as the primary investigator, receiving grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Arkansas Biosciences Institute (ABI), Arkansas Space Grant Consortium, and A-State.

In addition to his research, Dr. Seok is also a dedicated and experienced educator, teaching a wide range of courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, with a focus on hands-on labs. He has taught classes such as Dynamics, Mechanics and Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Mechatronics, Machine/mechanical system design, Finite element analysis, advanced materials science, and MEMS/NEMS. He has also mentored students at all levels, from advising senior design projects to supervising honors and master's theses, and Ph.D. dissertations.

Dr. Seok brings a wealth of experience to his role as a mechanical engineer, having worked for six years as an R&D engineer at Hyundai Motors, BOSCH, and Samsung Electro-Mechanics from 1999 to 2005.
