iSecure Lab - History

Mission

Our goal is to research and address security and privacy challenges faced by designing, introducing, and using technology innovations in the hyperconnected digital society, impacting individuals, business and government enterprises. We design and develop interdisciplinary approaches to mitigate threats to national infrastructure, to reduce security and privacy risks in organizations and individual economic and social activities in digital space. With the array of new innovations with intelligent machines based on AI, we also research what is the proper behaviors of human-like algorithmic machines to enhance security, privacy, and trust in technology-driven solutions in our digital society.

The design to the adoption of the technical solutions and technology governance and policies that consider the security, privacy, trust risks, are within the scope of our research.

A brief history

iSecure Lab was established through the NSF funds in 2012 to facilitate the cyber-security learning and education for the millennium students.

This lab was established through a collaborative project among three institutions (NJIT, CUNY/College of Staten Island, and Montclair State University) that aims to facilitate the cyber-security learning and education for the millennium students, by designing methodologies and tools to link diverse multi-modal learning materials, according to security concepts and semantic relationships.

Often the learning materials that may cover the same topic are scattered in slides, video segments, textbook pages, or syllabi. Linking these materials according to the security concepts supports students not only in searching for teaching materials but also in organizing their learning process according to security concepts. The proposed approach also allows students to personalize the learning resources according to the semantic and logical relationships.
