Library Orientation is conducted to all new students during the first semester of the academic year organized by the Office of the Student Affairs and Service (OSAS). An orientation is also given to first year students in their English classes scheduled by their professors on topics related to the use of the different tools of research in the Library. It also includes a library tour.
New Books Display
New acquisitions are displayed after they are processed and are ready for use by the clienteles. They are displayed in the section where the books belong.
Acquisition
The library prepares an acquisition list after the materials are required and processed. It is posted in the library’s bulletin board. The Program Coordinators and other concerned offices are also furnished a copy of the acquisition list.
Information System
Bulletin board displays are provided for students, easy access to library information and other updates.Library related information are posted and displayed in bulletin boards which serves as reminders and encouragement to the library customers.
Organization of Vertical/Informational Files
A collection of pamphlets and newspaper clippings related to curricular offerings of the university as well as recreational needs of the library clienteles are maintained. These materials are classified by subject, placed on folders and filed alphabetically in steel cabinets. Users are allowed to use the materials directly from the file with the assistance of the library staff. These files are updated regularly.
Circulation or Loan Service
This service includes the dissemination of materials. The function of which is to facilitate physical access to library materials and to encourage the maximum use of the library. The service covered the circulation work, which includes books in the stack area, reserve books and leisure reading book collection. It also includes the lending and returning of library materials by the customers.
Reserve Books Service
Reserve book services are library books assigned by the faculty as required reading materials for their classes. They are made available on a restricted basis to make sure that all library customers will have their fair chance of utilizing these materials. At the end of every semester books placed in the reserve section are returned to their original location. A faculty can also place his/her book on temporary reserve for use by their students in the subjects/s taught.
Reference and Information Service
Professional assistance is extended to users who need assistance in using the library resources and services. This is handled by a reference librarian who includes queries/ questions on the use of the different reference sources, assistance in selection of materials and giving directions on the location of materials in the library and indexing and dissemination of periodical articles. Reference assistance includes consultation and the use of print and online databases available in the library.
Audiovisual Services
This service includes the use of the listening and viewing room for film viewing, meetings, PowerPoint presentation, etc. To avail of this service, a request form is available at the library.
Internet Service
This service is provided to the library customers for global access to information. It serves as support to the inadequacy of some materials in the library. It also helps students enrich their research work.
Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)
This is a computerized catalog of the library for fast and easy access and retrieval of library materials. Searching for materials can be done on the following options: author, title or subject.
Library Usage Monitoring System
Students have to log-in in the logbook provided at the entrance every time they enter the library.
Validation and Issuance of Library Cards
Library cards of all students enrolled for the term are validated and issued to them upon presentation of their Registration Form. It serves as an entry and circulation requirement in any section of the library.
Referral Services
Faculty/employees and students who wished to do their research in other libraries to supplement their readings of references are issued a research permit to a university library where he/she wants to visit subject to the rules and regulations of the said library. A referral letter is issued by the university librarian.
Service to Outside Researchers
Researchers from their institutions are allowed to use the library resources upon presentation of their validated library ID and referral letter issued by the librarian of the institution. Their use of the library is subject to the rules and regulations of ISAT U library.
Technical Services
This service includes the organization of all materials in the library. It includes the classification and cataloging of all acquisitions of the library-print and non-print. It maintains the library’s record such as: accession, record, shelf list, list of processed books; inventory record and list of new acquisitions for the year. It facilitates encoding, barcoding and updating of the library’s catalog.
Photocopying Services
The photocopying service enables the patron to duplicate pages of the library materials that they need for their research work.
Online Request and Online Document Delivery Services(ORODDS)
Refers to the physical or electronic delivery of a document from a library collection to the residence or place of business of a library user, upon request.” The steps to be followed in providing DDS are: receipt and analysis of demand, identification and location of required document, procurement of document, copying the required portion of the document, if required, and delivering the original/copy of the required portion of the document to the user.
