The program runs from April thru February. It is a member benefit for APRN students in their final year of study and early career APRNs.
The purpose of the Mentor Program is to
- foster collaboration, networking, and sharing of ideas
- embrace reflections
- support professional development,
- build interpersonal skills
- develop professional skills to overcome challenges and new experiences
- build confidence as a new APRN.
Timeline and Process:
An orientation meeting is held in April to discuss roles and expectations for all mentors and all mentees.
Goals:
- To strengthen the mentee's skills and support their professional and career development by identifying and addressing areas for growth or improvement.
- To enhance the professional abilities of mentors through their efforts in guiding, coaching, and sharing their experience with their mentees.
- To foster collegial relationships between seasoned APRNs and those newer to the field, expanding the professional network of both groups.
We have developed content to serve as a resource and guide for your discussions. By no means are the topic areas exhaustive. We believe a truly successful mentor/mentee partnership is an organic one in which each party contributes and learns from the other.
