The program runs from April thru February. It is a member benefit for APRN students in their final year of study and early career APRNs.
The purpose of the Mentor Program is to
foster collaboration, networking, and sharing of ideas
embrace reflections
support professional development,
build interpersonal skills
develop professional skills to overcome challenges and new experiences
build confidence as a new APRN.
Timeline and Process:
An orientation meeting is held in April to discuss roles and expectations for all mentors and all mentees.
Goals:
To strengthen the mentee's skills and support their professional and career development by identifying and addressing areas for growth or improvement.
To enhance the professional abilities of mentors through their efforts in guiding, coaching, and sharing their experience with their mentees.
To foster collegial relationships between seasoned APRNs and those newer to the field, expanding the professional network of both groups.
We have developed content to serve as a resource and guide for your discussions. By no means are the topic areas exhaustive. We believe a truly successful mentor/mentee partnership is an organic one in which each party contributes and learns from the other.
