The internet is the great invention that supported our life in the Covid-19 Pandemic. However, The organizers don't consider that the internet is the magical stick. In Human's activity, some work is possible to be replaced by the internet, but some work is not. We set the functions of ISAGA's teaching duty into some parts.
1) Gaming Development: Face-to Face is better than the internet. Collaborative work in the same venue is more effective than the internet only communication.
2) Gaming Competition: The internet is useful. A baby game contains lots of mistakes. Participants must concentrate their games, no time to understand other game's rule , nor to play.
3) Gaming Review: Playing the new game accompanies many difficulties. Reviewers shall gather in the same value, help and consult together, that is necessary.
Gaming is a great learning opportunity to recognize, learn, and encourage students. We have to maintain global stages to discuss Game development, but the method must be reconsidered to satisfy new requirement from the society. To cover this problem, we started discuss with ISAGA executive members how to deal ISS in Covid-19 age.
(1) Invite world-class Game developers by using Internet Communication
Before Corona era, ISS invited famous developer from overseas to conduct students. Since this way of operation takes time and traveling cost, we had to ask teachers to stay at the venue for a long time. It was also for a local host from perspective of budget. But in Covid-19 days, people's ICT literacy has grown up rapidly. Most physical conferences are already replaced by Internet like Zoom, Teams, and so on. Saying in different way, we got new tool to invite world class game developers at anytime, with less cost. It is the opportunity to unite worldwide wisdoms by utilizing latest ICT to proceed Gaming culture.
(2) Interactive Group Sessions connected by the Internet
Despite we appreciate ICT's power, it is obvious to argue that we can replace every process of Gaming by digital method. Learning by Games is human's activity that reflects learner's emotions. Under the Covid-19, we cannot gather too much people, but "one group to make one game" is still available. We don't have to ask participants to travel abroad, we can set convenient place to make a new game. We assign instructor for one venue. He/she can speak their mother tongue, no need to force students to use English. They can keep their local time as well. This idea let students participate without afraid, contributes to open Gaming door wider.
(3) ISAGA Game Development Competition
Two to three bases are connected via the Internet. They share some important stories provided by the expert. To stimulate their creative motivation, we set the Game Development Competition at the end of the session. ISAGA's game developers join review, comment, and judge. After ISGC finished, the local coordinator and student's team can continue works to improve their game. By doing such trials, we can prevail gaming culture in world-wide level.
