Hola, soy Isa
I'm an Ecuadorian audiovisual artist currently based in Boston. I was born in the city of Cuenca (like my last name!) but I grew up in Guayaquil. My interest in film began when I was 15, I already had a deep love for literature and a background in theater and music, but it wasn't until 2020 that I fell in love with film-making. At 17 I got my first job in a movie, working as an intern in the art department for the Ecuadorian movie Amor en Tiempos de Likes (2022) produced by Dual Films . Later that year I wrote and directed my first short film Ririsila (2022) the story follows a boy who creates a new color that unexpectedly becomes a global trend, exploring the fleeting nature of virality and the tension between authentic creation and commercialization. Ririsila was nominated in 9 categories in the Intercollegiate Film Festival of Guayaquil (FIC) winning 3 of them, incluiding best screenplay and best national short film. On 2023 I wrote and directed two more projects; the first one, Desde Su Punto De Vista tells the love story between a lonely man and a plant, blending absurd humor with a critique of modern romance. After winning the MOMAV pitching contest organized by the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Desde Su Punto De Vista will be re-filmed in 2026. You can read more about that here. The second project I did in 2023 was The Man Who Lives Inside Your Head, for Colombia's 48 hour film project. After that I studied Multimedia at Universidad Casa Grande in Guayaquil for a year, during this period of time I've collaborated with multiple filmmakers in more than 40 different productions, including short films, music videos, commercial spots, photo shoots, among others. I transferred to Emerson College where I'm currently pursuing a major in Media Arts Production.
