The problem
People unable to find jobs, start new careers, and join communities of their skill sets
The goal
To allow users and companies find jobs, have a community of same interest and start a new career.
A dedicated mobile app and a responsive website for the social good. The targeted audience for this app would be immigrants, fresh graduates and people with a record who need help in starting a new career, find jobs and learning new skills.
My Role
Since this was a sole project I was the lead UX designer, UX researcher, Interaction designer and all.
My Responsibilities
I performed all the responsibilities from user research, wireframing, prototyping, designing among others.
Understanding the User
User Research
I scheduled and directed meetings and made empathy guides to help me comprehend the users I'm designing for, their needs and necessities. An essential user group distinguished through research was fresh graduates, immigrants and people with a record trying to find jobs.
This user bunch affirmed beginning suppositions about the users, however research additionally uncovered that not only stressful ways of finding a job was the issue. But also
other users and recruiters issues included obligations, interests, or challenges that made it difficult for them to find a job, join a community of similar skill sets and start a new career.
Persons & Problem Statement
Digital Wireframes
After drafting some paper wireframes, I created the initial digital designs for the career app. These designs focused on providing career events information, groups and connecting users with their mentors in their fields of interest.
Low - Fi & Mockups
To prepare for usability testing, I created a low-fidelity prototype that connected the user flow of accessing information of getting a job, starting a business and obtaining new skills and find supports in the community
Usability Study Findings
This are the additional research findings after participants used a low-fi prototype of my app.
Round 1 Findings
Users were concerned about account security
User was unable to review services
Users were unable to apply for jobs
Round 2 Findings
Users were unable to track the progress of their application
Hi - fi Prototype
The high-fidelity prototype followed the same user flow as the low-fidelity prototype, including design changes made after the usability study.
