It's officially the start of the project! Whaaat?
Secret friends, (Italiano) mafia and much more.
It's time to make a summary of the first day at the project! Clearly, it was more an introduction for us to get to know each other a bit more and at least try to remember each other’s names, but I suppose it’s gonna take us the whole project to do it, won’t it?
Also, a thing that probably made me feel like I’m not the only loser in the world (who changed bus tickets 3 times, whose bus to the airport broke up, and whose airport was mined and finally, whose dry shampoo was confiscated) after the stories of other teams about lost passports etc. Cringe stories bring people together 👉🏼👈🏼
Thus, it was actually a very eventful day with cool activities of representing yourself to others and an amazing evening near the fire (without details :)).
So, tomorrow you’ll hear more, new day – new adventures!
This is day 2 of «is media everything?».
The morning started as always, photographing the cats and enjoying the breakfast in the wonderful nature, but a bit lazy. That's why we did one of our energizers…
The first workshop was an open discussion about media, which media we mostly used and we also made a calculation of how many hours per day we spend online (it's a bit concerning).
Since it was time for Italians to take the role of moderating a workshop, we were separated into small groups and were given the job to come up, or to find 1 real news and 1 fake news. My group (the first) struggled a bit with the fake one, but still made it to find the most fake ones :)
After finding love at the end of the ice cream I ate for lunch, we had to form a pattern with hidden papers we had to find on the first floor. After finding the emotion, we had to improvise a scene for others to find. This part was very creative.
Dinner and the first national extravaganza! Albania started it with a presentation, some interesting fun facts and some of their traditional dances. Followed by Bulgaria, which had prepared a sketch that made us all laugh and some very delicious jam wich made us lick our fingers.
We all celebrated Ukraine's Independence Day, singing and dancing, but also doing a quiz in Kahoot. It was a nice day, still getting to know each-other.
See you tomorrow, dear Diary!
Hello there! You are probably wondering how day 3 went, aren't you?
The activities started at about 10 am. (Actually with a road trip and departure from Endzele at 9 am). We went to Valmiera, we visited both of the buildings of Vidzeme university & learned about the creation of VR, how it helps in different fields of life. The university had a multimedia lab with a TV studio, where activities such as podcasts or interviews were recorded by both professionals and students. Imagine coming up with your own show idea?
While there, we made sure to take pictures as a group. To get into that media feeling, we did a media challenge in the streets of Valmiera – interviewing and asking people questions – how do they understand, use media and whether media is everything?
Later we had lunch and were ready to go trail in the trees! Some of the participants did not take part in trailing, but they walked through a small path. The trailing was challenging for some to some others it gave crazy adrenaline. The taste of a good adventure! In other words everybody participated in something and was not left out.
Later on, we went back to Endzele it was time for Italian and Latvian participants to get ready for their cultural day. We were introduced to amazing dances, foods and even traditional costumes. During the third day I am sure we all learned so much more for Italian and Latvian cultures and their beauty.
Well personally, I found out Latvian dances were harder than they seemed and learned some words here and there. It was a great day full of great activities and good energy! 🤌
Hello, Day 4 of «is media everything?»!
We started our day with an energizer, the famous chair game which was won by Maria from Italy. After that, the first workshop was to pick 3 random objects in the area and to make a campaign about them. Working in a group can be really fun and creative, we understood that while presenting.
The second workshop was about a social media campaign about a topic of interest we had as a group. The most difficult part was deciding the topic, but everything went fine and the presentations came up very innovative considering the time and tools we had.
After finishing the workshop, we went to Rūjiena to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Organization. We sang and danced after visiting the small beautiful Rūjiena.
See you tomorrow at the Rock Festival!
It has been a great week so far! You are probably thinking why and what we have done.
Well, today we started the day with some energizers (Our group is a bit tired all the time :D). Continuing with mini games such as guessing acronyms and slangs of different apps or social media platforms we had a great time and we also learned new things. Seems interesting right?
Can't forget about the main activity of the day – photography project. Main aim of this collaboration was taking black and white pictures while expressing different emotions. It was so much fun, I can't wait for people to see my group's pictures.
I hope everybody had fun and made new discoveries during this project.
The last activities were two workshops led by Annete from Ukraine and Veronica from Bulgaria. In the 1st one we had to judge a story in groups by our point of view. In the 2nd we had to make impressions of different words and create a story.
After all this we got ready to go to Rujiena and enjoy our time listening to wonderful
music. Great day with fun activities. You will hear from us again, later.
Hello everybody! You are probably wondering what we did yesterday, aren't you?
Yesterday we had the duty to create a short movie filmed based on a goal, main idea, script and a shooting plan. We should at least have 3 characters in our movie.
To challenge our learning process, we were unexpectedly assigned to do a music video based on a song that we randomly picked. My group had "Teenage dirtbag". It was amazing.
After we finished filming and editing, we showed our movie's premiere to everyone else. Everybody worked so hard and had so much fun. Some of the project group members would leave one day before and a farewell party was thrown. Miss you bulgarians. Yesterday was so fun and great.
Already?! Yes, this is the last day of this project.
We are working on the final details, editing the video and creating brand new costumes and sets. Our short films are gradually coming together! 7 teams are pushing to the very sharp limits of creativity. What will the work show us? We will see. We also conducted a final evaluation with a discussion, YouthPass information and a rating circle.
But then it was time for the premieres of 7 short films! So creative and amazing! We are talented young media professionals, guys! And as in the last few hours of "is the media everything?" approached, we had a nice farewell, Latvian dances and departures. Thank you for this experience, new friends, memories, creative atmosphere and exchange of ideas!
