FAQs

COLLECTION POINTS

1. How can I volunteer to be a collection point?

When you volunteer to be a collection point, people from your neighbourhood can come drop-off gift wrapped presents for the workers with you. Let us know that you are interested, and we will add you on the official list.

2. How does it work?

People from your neighbourhood can come drop-off gift wrapped presents for the workers with you. They will find your contact info from our list of collection points, and contact you first. You can let them know what time and address to drop the gifts off - leave at the door/the guard house or any other such instructions. We only request you reply politely, since you represent ItsRainingRaincoats.

Once you reach a substantial amount of items received, let us know, and we will arrange for the presents to go to a worksite.

3. I work and I'm not at home all day. Can I still volunteer to be a collection point?

Yes, you can! You can set your own timings for people to drop the gifts off. It can be only evenings, or only weekends too! You can also check with your office/condo building if they can be the collection point.

4. Will my address be publicly shared?

No, we will only put your name, area of collection, and you phone number on the list here. Once someone contacts you, let them know the exact location to drop the items off at.

5. Do I have to drive around to collect items from people?

No. We request everyone to drop the items off at the collection points, at whatever time/day is convenient to you.

GENERAL VOLUNTEERS

1. How can I participate?

You can drop off your gift wrapped presents with our volunteers. Our volunteers will then distribute all the presents they collect amongst the worker community. Window for drop-offs opens November 16, 2019.

2. Who are the gifts for?

The gifts are for the wonderful migrant workers of Singapore, who build and maintain and keep Singapore clean & beautiful. They are all men, so please ensure to buy gifts accordingly.

3. Do we need to gift wrap our presents?

We prefer that the gifts come wrapped or looking festive, so we can pass on the Christmas cheer to the workers. You can also check with your local volunteer if they can help. Not all may have resources, but some might be able to help you with packing/labelling.

4. What type of gift wrapping is ok?

You can use any type of wrapping. Shiny wrappers, brown paper and bows, or even newspapers that can be made to look festive. We fully support eco-friendly and sustainable material. Please ensure to label (a small post-it or handwritten note in the corner is fine), so we are able to identify what we are handing out.

5. Can I volunteer to participate in the distribution?

Yes, you can! Please watch this home page our Facebook events for updates on distributions, and RSVP with the person hosting the distribution.

If you can help us transport presents from our collection points to the worksites, or to get added to our volunteer list, please contact Ruchi on 91469725.

6. Can we give pre-loved items?

New items only please. We do used stuff collection other times of the year but this is Christmas giving, so we are gifting new presents.

7. What items are required?

Items listed in our main poster are the ones that are most desired and used by the workers. They do not have a lot of storage space, so larger items may not be useful for them.

8. Are there any minimums?

There are no minimum quantities or dollar values. You can donate what you wish, as is convenient for you. We are trying to get a gift for each of the 750,000 workers in Singapore, so please keep in mind to wrap gifts individually when you send them over.

9. I am out of town or otherwise not able to buy and donate gifts. Can I make a cash donation instead?

You can order online from Amazon or Decathalon and have the items sent to one of our addresses. If not and if you wish to make a cash donation via PayLah or online transfer, please WhatsApp 90183764.
