IRP Art SIG

The Art Show - ArtSig

ArtSig organizes events for IRP members who make art and for those who look at art. Every year we schedule docent-led tours of galleries and museums that are newly established or less well known.

To showcase the talents of our artmaking members, we decided in 2013 to re-activate an IRP tradition – the biannual art show. That Spring 26 members displayed their work on the “Bridge” at the New School’s W. 12th St. building. All media were welcomed -- watercolor, oil painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, textiles, and wood cut. All entries were accepted.

The success of the show prompted the decision to repeat the event in 2015 at the same venue. The long hallway in our new location on W. 16th St. proved to be a fine display area for the show in 2017. Our format changed during the following academic year to a rotating show and in 2019-2020 to an online exhibit.

That the show has endured despite the various dislocations of our program is testament to the creative energy of organization’s members. We expect to record many future IRP art shows on this site.
