"There's no earthly way of knowing which direction we are going. There's no knowing where we're rowing, or which way the river's flowing. Is it raining? Is it snowing? Is a hurricane a-blowing? Not a speck of light is showing, so the danger must be growing. Are the fires of hell a-glowing? Is the grisly reaper mowing?! Yes! The danger must be growing, for the rowers keep on rowing. And they're certainly not showing... any signs that they are slowing!" - Gene Wilder, 'Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory'.
Tasked by Çetin Bariş and the Saffron Consortium to uncover the secret to Lucia de Castillo's chocolate empire, the party infiltrated the elaborate chocolate works on the outskirts of Latiarin. Inside they uncovered an intricate operation fuelled by vile experiments and a tribe of magically altered pygmies who transformed the rich cocoa pods of an enormous tree called 'Old Growth' into the delicious chocolates enjoyed by many in Shaxecani high society.
Peridot slew Lucia de Castillo and was accepted by the pygmies as their new leader. A thorough inspection of the factory revealed the mechanisms by which the cocoa was processed into delicious chocolate, as well as prison cells, experimental brews and Lucia's private quarters, which contained great wealth and even greater potential dangers.
Peridot's death in the Dunheath had led the pygmies to cease processing the cocoa, though they still gather it. Meriç has hired a scholar to attempt to translate their language to convince them to start again, while also purchasing slaves to continue running the factory in the meantime.
