Application Process for Visa

Where can I get the application form for renewal?

The form is available online, you can fill it in here. Please read the submission instruction here before you proceed with the submission. Do make sure to submit all the required documents 3 months before the visa expiration. 

How much is the visa renewal application fee?

Where do I make the payment for visa renewal?

• Bank Muamalat branch in IIUM (beside Richiamo cafe). Inform the person at the counter of your renewal fees amount, payable to "IIUM OPERATING ACCOUNT", account no. "1407 000000 4716" written on the cheque. Keep the original receipt to be scanned and submitted along with other documents.

• Online bank payment. Payable to "IIUM OPERATING ACCOUNT", account no. "1407 000000 4716". Save the e-receipt as a PDF to be submitted along with other documents.

What should I do if I want to change my institution, major, or kulliyyah?

You need to apply for variation (refer to Visa Variation below) instead of visa renewal.

Do I have to update any office when I renew my passport?

Yes, before you can apply for a visa renewal, you must update the academic system (update visa unit, AMAD and kulliyyah) with your new passport number. Through this email,  visaunit@live.iium.edu.my , you can reach to visa unit, or create a ticket here , and for emergency cases, you can contact this number +60103196004. For KIRKHS students, you may fill in this form and submit it to liyana_ismail@iium.edu.my

Where do I submit all my documents?

Currently, ALL visa applications have to be submitted online (click on Student Pass Application). Upload all required documents in Google Drive (enable access to file through the link in your settings). Link to the folder that contains all documents, to be attached at the end of the application form. 

Is a Certified True Copy of documents needed for online submission?

No, it is not required. 

If my renewal status has reached 90%, where do I submit my passport?

Currently, you can walk in directly to Visa Unit, or book a ticket online for an inquiry to submit your passport. The latter method is however preferable to avoid any misunderstanding. For more transparency, make sure to provide these details: 

• Name

• Matric No. 

• Passport No.

• Country

• Current Location

• Visa Validity

If my renewal status has reached 90%, how can I collect my passport?

For passport collection, when your application reaches 90% you should wait until it reaches 100% and book a ticket online or send an email to visaunit@live.iium.edu.my and wait for their confirmation email. Additionally, for urgent cases, e.g., something happened outside or passport issues with the police, you can contact the IIUM Visa Unit Hotline number at +6010-3196004. Do include the following details:

• Name

• Matric No. 

• Passport No.

• Country

• Current Location

• Visa Validity

How can I contact Visa Unit, IIUM?

1. You may create a ticket for your inquiries here. They will assign your inquiry to the respective officer in charge accordingly. Please ensure you have read all the FAQs before opening a ticket. 

2. You may contact the hotline number +6010-3196004 for any emergency and urgent issue. Do take note that this hotline is ONLY for the aforementioned purpose otherwise, you will not be entertained.

Does every international student need a pass to study in Malaysia?

Yes, this is a mandatory prerequisite according to Malaysian government laws and regulations

What is visa variation? 

In the IIUM context, it is when a student wants to change his/her major or kulliyyah or institution. It is applied only to undergraduate students who are still in their first year, including their CELPAD time. Postgraduate students as well as those who have applied for a 4-years-visa (for the whole study period), are not eligible for visa variation application. 

How do I apply for visa variation?
