Privacy Policy for IRITracker Road Roughness
Last updated: 2025 November 23
This Privacy Policy describes how the mobile application IRITracker Road Roughness (the “App”) processes information. The App is developed and published by Dmitry Bereznev (“we”, “us”, “our”).
The App is designed to help monitor road roughness using the International Roughness Index (IRI). We take your privacy seriously and try to keep all processing as local and minimal as possible.
The App does not require you to create an account or sign in.
We do not collect names, passwords or other login credentials.
All data listed below is processed on your device and is primarily stored in measurement logs that you create and manage.
2.1 Location data (GPS)
The App uses your precise location to:
record the route of your trip;
calculate IRI values along the route;
display your track on the map.
Location points are stored in log files on your device and can be included when you export a log.
Location is used only while recording logs or when the App needs to show your position on the map.
2.2 Motion and device sensors
The App uses acceleration and other motion sensor data from your device to calculate IRI and related metrics.
These values are stored as part of the log on your device and are not linked to your real-world identity.
2.3 Photos, videos and microphone
You can optionally attach photos, videos and voice notes to specific segments of the route.
The App needs access to:
the camera (to take new photos/videos);
the microphone (for video with sound or voice notes);
the photo library (to attach existing media).
Media files are stored in your device’s photo library and/or inside exported log packages only when you choose to attach or export them.
2.4 Logs and notes
Each log may include GPS points, IRI values, calibration information, text notes and links to attached media.
Logs are stored locally on your device. You decide which logs to keep, delete or export.
The App does not include advertising SDKs or third-party analytics libraries.
We do not send your logs, location data, IRI values, photos or videos to our own servers.
Data may leave your device only when:
you export a log and send the file (for example, by email, messenger or cloud storage); or
your device creates a backup (for example, iCloud backup) under your Apple ID, according to Apple’s settings.
Apple may collect anonymized diagnostic data about app crashes and device performance if you have enabled this in iOS system settings. This is controlled by Apple, not by us.
All logs and attached media remain on your device until you delete them in the App or remove them from your device.
If you export log files, copies of those files will be stored wherever you choose to send or save them.
If you uninstall the App, all data stored inside the App on the device is normally removed. Data in external backups or exported files will remain where you stored it.
You can:
Change permissions for Location, Camera, Microphone and Photo Library at any time in the iOS system settings.
Delete individual logs or all logs from within the App.
Delete attached media from your photo library (if you no longer need them).
Uninstall the App to remove local data stored by the App on your device.
Please note: if you deny location access, the App cannot record route tracks or compute IRI along a route.
The App is intended for professional and technical use in road construction and maintenance. It is not directed at children and should not be used by children under the age of 16 without supervision by an adult responsible for data and device settings.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add new features or change how data is processed. The latest version will always be available at this URL. We recommend reviewing it periodically.
