Tensions and Intentions:
Workshops in Aerial Improvisation
Come to our laboratory of aerial silks dance as a mode of communication. Two Doctors of Communication gathered together to offer you a unique experience of cultivating integral ideas about physical space, your body, and imagination. Our sessions will allow you to intuitively discover new ways to interact with the material world (silks). We’ll take two hours of literal suspense from reality and explore the world upside down! Our workshops are geared towards helping you acquire tools and techniques of improvisation and performance in aerial silks by exploring shape, weight, texture, initiation points, friction, and uplifting properties of gravity. You will ultimately develop an original choreography on the subject of your choice and allow the fabric of your thoughts, curiosity, and sensibilities to unfold!
Aligning Thinking Through Ballet
I am offering ballet lab lessons geared to give you an experience of body/mind alignment to explore new thinking patterns and apply them to the field of your personal research or artistic practice. The sessions will help you taste (for those new to dance) or test (for the advanced dancers) the impact of dance discipline and energy distribution on the process of liberating the mind and so developing new patterns of observing, processing, and conceptualizing experiences and phenomena. The lesson can be taken as a single or a series of sessions comprising conditioning, barre technique, and creative experiments in dance composition on the subject of your professional or personal interest.
