Research Projects

EU Projects

Project aims to enable patient-specific modelling for improved diagnosis and clinical decision-making in cardiovascular medicine. Role: Development of the data and computing platform for the data/ analytics of the project (including development of a cardiovascular disease map); development of the cardiomap - curated and comprehensive representation of the heart failure mechanisms. Data management, data integration and analysis for multi-modal data for heart failure patients.

Project aims to develop and run an open, sustainable research informatics and analytics framework for use by scientific projects with knowledge management needs. Role: Disease Networks eTRIKS Lab leader: https://diseaseknowledgebase.etriks.org/.

Project aimed to investigate interactions of DNA methylation enzymes (DNMT and MBD) and of histone marks, correlating these with gene expression profiles and a study of genome-wide binding of histones and chromatin modification. Role: PhD Student on development of a multiscale computational model for colon cancer dynamics.

Community projects

  • Oct. 2021 - present - FAIR metrics for computational biology models

Cross-community project engaging FAIR & RDA and COMBINE communities aiming to apply the RDA indicators for FAIR evaluation of COMBINE models.

Project aiming to exploration of connections between signalling pathways and metabolism regulation. Role: project co-coordinator and leader developer of the metabolic - signalling computational framework.

Project aiming at standardizing the graphical notation used in maps of biological processes. Role: an SBGN Acting Editor contributing to the Process Description specification and a member of the SBGN Team leading the development of ySBGN, a bidirectional converter between yEd GraphML and SBGN-ML.

  • Jan. 2018 - present - Human-like Layout Algorithms

Project in collaboration with the yWorks Germany and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology aiming to development of advanced automatic layout algorithms for signalling and metabolic pathways. Role: development contributor.

Project aiming to comprehensively represent mechanisms for various diseases. Role: contributor on supporting tools development.

Project aiming to development of comprehensive and domain-expert approved collection of signalling, metabolic and gene regulatory pathways specific to human asthma. Role: contributor on the computational modelling and supporting tools development.
