Escape INTO Patient-Oriented Research (POR):
A Virtual Escape Room Collaboration
Saskatchewan Centre for Patient-Oriented Research (SCPOR)
Saskatchewan Long-term Care Network (SK LTC Network)
With support from:
University of Saskatchewan Health Sciences Interprofessional Education (USask IPE)
The goal of the SCPOR Patient-Oriented Research Escape Room is to share the concept of patient-oriented research with individuals interested in health research. It is increasingly important for health disciplines to work together to offer optimal patient care, especially in complex situations. Similarly it is increasingly important that multi-disciplinary health research teams, which include Patient Partners, work together to better the healthcare system. Escape rooms are an ideal mechanism to promote health care practitioners to work together, as well as ensuring Patient-Oriented Research teams engage Patient Partners as co-investigators. The SCPOR Patient-Oriented Research Escape Room provides attendees with an introduction to key terms, definitions, multiple examples and scenarios of strong patient-oriented research.

Working as a team, determine the approach to the experience that works best for all members. A suggestion is to nominate a teammate to screen share the experience, and input the answers. Simultaneously, you may access the experience in a separate window to explore clues.
There are clues hidden within the picture that can be accessed by using your curser and clicking. So hover away!
Once a clue has been opened, you will be able to access it throughout the experience.
Some hidden clues will help you solve puzzles, while others will provide you with additional valuable resources.
Be sure to read the description under each puzzle because it will specify what is expected for your final answer. For example, codes can be: digits (2, 1498), characters (patient, PARTNER), symbols (!@\/?), alphanumeric (F3bruary), or any combination.
Once you have entered an answer, click on the empty space to verify if it is correct.
You will know your answer is ✔️ Correct, because it will be underlined in grey.
You will know your answer is ❌ Incorrect, because it will be underlined in red. Try again!
At times, hints may appear below your incorrect response to help you solve the puzzle.
You move forward by selecting Next or backwards by selecting Back.
Remember to click "Start" on the stop watch button. ⏱
