Privacy Policy for IPCompass
Effective Date: Sept 11 2024
Introduction
IPCompass is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices for our Chrome extension.
Data Collection and Use
IPCompass does not collect, store, or transmit any personal user data. Here's how we handle information:
a. IP Address: We temporarily retrieve your current public IP address solely to determine your geographical location. This IP address is not stored or retained after the location lookup is complete.
b. Location Data: The geographical information derived from your IP address is displayed to you but is not collected, stored, or transmitted beyond your local device.
c. User Preferences: Your selected settings (such as display options and refresh intervals) are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. These preferences are not transmitted or collected by us.
Data Sharing
We do not share any user data because we do not collect or store any.
Security
All extension operations occur locally on your device. The only external communications are API calls to determine IP and location, and this information is not retained.
Changes to This Policy
If we decide to collect user data in the future or make any significant changes to our privacy practices, we will update this policy and notify users.
