As a result of exploring FraxHD, I have a collection of beautiful abstract images. I used them in creating this image. The primary transformation in creating this image was the Tensor 5 step. The village photo provided the main shapes for the final image, whereas the fractals, because they are so soft, contributed the color. The final image has a beautiful glowing color that defines it.
I started with this photo from Pixabay, a source of copyright-free images.
In iColorama, I applied Adjust/Tonelab preset 4 for clarity and depth, and Style/Coherence for smoothness.
I used Tone/B&W to convert to black and white.
FraxHD is a fun program. The free version is easy to use. You can look at different fractals and "fly" over them to find an interesting pattern, which you can then save and reuse. Here is one that I will use in this image.
In Effect/Distort, I distorted another FraxHD image over the first one.
I lightened the image in Adjust/Levels.
I used Style/Tensor preset 5, with the black and white image as the secondary input. I moved all the sliders to the maximum setting, except for the Amount, which was 75%.
Now I used Style/Coherence and Effect/Denoise 4 to smooth the image and straighten jaggy lines that were introduced in earlier processing steps. The smoothing is in preparation for the next, Raise, step.
I used a touch of Effect/Raise preset 1.
Now I used Style/Flat preset 18 (I like Flat 18, I'll try it with anything I feel needs something, even though it frequently doesn't work with the image. Here it added a nice glow, but really the effect is so slight you should just skip this step.)
A final touch of Effect/Raise preset 1.
