This is a constructed piece, starting with a distorted image, and then adding a veil and hat to give her some personality. Her enlarged eyes and lips, as well as the strong colors, add to the interest.
I started with this image I made previously. You can see how I made it here.
I applied Tone/Tint.
I created this pattern in iColorama by painting in Brush/Paint and then blurring in Effect/Blur. I wanted a soft, simple pattern to distort over.
In iColorama, I distorted the girl over the pattern using Effect/Distort. I moved her around with my fingers and I used the sliders to get an interesting effect.
In iColorama, I opened a large blank canvas. Then I used Effect/Blend and imported the distorted girl. Then I used Form/Mirror to rotate her.
I used Form/Warp to warp her to fill the canvas, enlarging the eyes and the upper head in the process.
I used Style/Tensor preset 1 and then a directional blur preset in Effect/Blur to smooth the face.
In Texture/Metal, I applied a texture in Multiply mode to look like a veil, using a brush mask. I used a hard triangular brush for the brush mask, so that it looks like an uneven cut edge of the veil.
I painted in a beauty mark using Brush/Paint and a small hard round brush with brown paint. Then, to get the texture of the painted spot to match that of her face, I used Style/Tensor preset 1 with an inverted brush mask to apply the effect only to the beauty spot, and with the mask still in place I applied Style/Flow to soften it.
Using Brush/Colorize, I painted in a hat. The default brush gives some texture to the hat.
I brightened her eyes using Adjust/Exposure and a brush mask.
I applied Effect/Raise to the veil, using a brush mask.
I modified color using Preset/Lineal.
I painted in shadows of her hat and veil using Brush/Paint with a soft round brush, and reduced opacity.
Finally, I toned the shadows in Tone/Duotone in Multiply mode at low opacity, using a dark blue preset. I vignetted and using Preset/Border, which gives a nice border fading to black.
