I love using warp, and this image is all about warp. I use two differently warped versions of the same woman, side by side, with eyes warped to be vaguely directed towards each other, but at the same time directed unnervingly out of the image. You're left wondering what they are looking at and what they are thinking.
This is the original photo from the Sktchy app. This was a very small file, so I upsized it twice in BigPhoto.
In iColorama, I used Form/Warp to change the shape of her head. The original was very low resolution. So I smoothed her in Effect/Denoise and Style/Coherence. I saved this version for later use.
I warped again.
In Adjust/Exposure, I moved the brightness slider all the way to the right to create a blank white canvas. Then in Effect/Blend, I placed the woman on the left side of the canvas.
Now, in Effect/Blend, I blended the previously saved first warped version of the woman onto the right side of the canvas.
Using the Elasticam app, I warped again, so that their eyes are directed to the the center, yet still out of the canvas and past the viewer.
I applied Adjust/Tonelab Preset 4 at low opacity, for clarity.
In Brush/Paint, I painted in catchlights in all four eyes with a small soft round brush at medium opacity. Then I applied Style/Flow preset 1 to the catchlights to smooth them, using an inverted brush mask. And then I applied Effect/Denoise preset 4 to deal with the jaggy lines that often results from Flow.
I used Tone/Enhance and then Tone/Lomo for color. Tone/Lomo is nice when you want to create some wacky color.
As finishing touches, I used the Smooth preset in Effect/Denoise to smooth the faces. Then I used Effect/Raise preset 2 twice, to create more emphasis in the lines. Then I used Effect/Sharpen preset 7 for some sharpness.
