The Trimaginator app is a fun app that can create images transformed into fine lines forming many small triangles over a black space. These lines were suggestive to me a lots of strings that could be made to look as if they were tied in knots. By putting a textured face behind these strings and knots, I could create a face that looks like it has been tied up in string.
I started with this photo from Pixabay, which is a source of copyright-free images.
In iColorama, I used Form/Warp to change the shape of her face (just drag your finger or stylus across the image to warp it). Then I used Brush/Paint, with white paint and a very small, hard round brush to paint in catchlights in the eyes. Then I applied Style/Flow preset 1 at low opacity to smooth the face.
I used iColorama's Style/ET-Flow to add a kind of woodblock texture to her face.
Then I used the Trimaginator app to create this stringy looking version of the ET-Flow version of the girl.
Opening the Trimaginator image in iColorama, I applied Style/Flow to smooth the lines.
Still in iColorama, I applied Effects/Pixels.
I lightened the image.
I used some of the functions under Tone to modify the color, and then I applied Effect/Raise preset 1.
I used Style/Edges.
In Effect/Blend, I blended the original warped girl on top of the pattern.
My final edits were to apply some sharpness using Effect/Sharpen, and to tweak the color in Tone. Then I cropped.
