This is a variation of the image I call Blinds. I call this one Stripes because I left the original red color of the stripes. Blending the image with a version of itself creates some interesting effects.
I started with this image I created previously. You can see how I made it, here.
I previously painted this pattern in iColorama for use in distortion and blending. You can find it in the iColorama background exchange on flickr. I will use this image to blend with the image of the woman.
In iColorama, using Effect/Blend, I blended the striped image onto the woman. I tried several blending modes and slider settings, including the Lightness and Gray sliders under Set.
I smoothed the image using Style/Coherence and Style/Flow. Then I applied Effect/Raise at low opacity.
Now I want to create a simple version to blend her with. I used Style/Simplify 10, and then I brightened the colors in Tone/LUTS preset 1.
In Brush/Paint, using a large brush, I painted white onto half of the canvas.
Now, in Effect/Blend, I blended the striped woman onto the half white canvas in Difference mode, trying all the sliders, including the Lightness and Gray sliders under Set.
