As a result of exploring FraxHD, I have a collection of beautiful abstract images. The challenge is finding ways to use them in composite images. I like to zoom in to get an interesting portion of the fractal without an overwhelming amount of detail. Here I used a very simple fragment of a fractal. I textured it in Trimaginator, enhanced it in iColorama, then distorted it over a smoothly undulating fragment of another fractal. The result is an unreal surface suggestive perhaps of the surface of an imaginary planet. I decided to place the soaring bird there, playing the role of an orbiting space ship.
FraxHD is a fun program. The free version is easy to use. You can look at different fractals and "fly" over them to find an interesting pattern, which you can then save and reuse. Here is one that I will use to create this image.
I created these threads and spheres in the Trimaginator App.
I processed it in iColorama for color and tone.
Here is another fractal image from FraxHD.
In iColorama, using Effect/Distort, I distorted the previous image over this above FraxHD output.
Now I will use this photo from Pixabay, which is a source of copyright-free images.
In Effect/Blend, I blended the bird image onto the previous image in Normal mode, using the gray slider under Set.
I blended the FraxHD/Trimaginator image again onto the work, and used an inverted brush mask to paint away artifacts near the top of the image that were the result of the previous blend. I saved, and removed the brush mask. In Effect/Blend, I blended the bird image again onto the work, and used an inverted brush mask to paint back parts of the bird that were not fully preserved in the original blend.
I made final adjustments in iColorama in using Adjust/Levels, Tone/Duotone, and Effect/Light, with a touch of Effect/Raise.
